Research and expertise for the circular economy

CE Center conducts policy-relevant research in the context of the circular economy and brings together researchers from KU Leuven, UGent, UAntwerpen, UHasselt and VITO. CE Center builds on the research results of the previous Circular Economy Support Center that was active from 2017 to 2021 and Support Center SuMMa from 2012 to 2016.

Circular Economy Monitor Flanders

How far are we from reaching a circular economy in Flanders? To answer this question, a set of indicators is required. 

On the 22nd of November 2022, after 5 years of research, the CE monitor was launched. Here, the current circular economy in Flanders is monitored, using multiple analyses and more than 100 indicators.

This report highlights the role of GPP in the transition to a circular economy through an analysis of the European regulatory framework in terms of both hard (e.g. Batteries Regulation, etc.)  and soft law (working documents from the Commission).
